Bio

Hi! My name is Ms. Laris and I am so excited to teach first grade at Lucille Roybal Allard Elementary. Most importantly I am thrilled to be your child's teacher. I enjoy learning about my students and can't wait to know all about them. But first let me share a few things about me.

I am a dedicated first-grade teacher with 22 years of experience helping young learners grow both academically and socially. I earned my degree from California State University, Long Beach, where I developed a strong foundation in elementary education and a passion for early childhood learning.

Throughout my career, I have focused on creating a nurturing and engaging classroom environment where students feel safe, confident, and excited to learn. I believe that every child is unique and capable, and I strive to support each student’s individual needs through creative lessons, hands-on activities, and positive encouragement. I value building strong relationships with parents to strengthen the home-school connection and support student success.

In my classroom, I emphasize kindness, respect, and doing work students can be proud of, helping to build both character and confidence.

I am also a proud parent of two sons, and in my free time, I enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors.

Watching my students build their reading, writing, and math skills—while also developing kindness and confidence—has been the most rewarding part of my journey as an educator.
